Giving Back Through Travel Photography
Photography has given me the opportunity to explore beautiful destinations, meet extraordinary people, and capture stories from around the world. But some of my most meaningful adventures have been the ones where I had the chance to give something back.
As a professional travel photographer, I believe in using my skills not only to create beautiful images but also to support causes that are close to my heart. Over the years, I have volunteered my time and photography services to nonprofit organizations, documenting unforgettable experiences and creating lasting memories for the people involved.
One organization that holds a particularly special place in my heart is First Descents, a nonprofit that creates outdoor adventure experiences for young adults impacted by cancer and other serious health conditions.
Since 2023, I have had the privilege of joining four First Descents surfing programs across the United States, capturing moments of courage, friendship, joy, and adventure.
Here are some of the journeys that have made giving back through travel photography such a meaningful part of my life.
My first volunteer adventure with First Descents, documenting an oncology surfing program on the beautiful California coast. This experience introduced me to an incredible community and inspired me to continue giving back through travel photography.
My second First Descents adventure took me to North Carolina, where I once again volunteered as a photographer for a surfing program. Another memorable experience capturing personal victories, friendships, and the joy of adventure.
My fourth volunteer experience with First Descents brought me back to the California coast for another oncology surfing program. Despite challenging ocean conditions, I was able to capture beautiful moments of participants catching waves and embracing their adventures.
Returning to Santa Cruz for my third First Descents program felt like reconnecting with a community that had become very special to me. Another beautiful week documenting surfing, laughter, and unforgettable moments.

Giving back through photography is something I hope to continue doing for many years to come.
Alongside my professional travel photography work, I dedicate a limited amount of time each year to volunteering with nonprofit organizations and causes that genuinely resonate with me.
I am currently considering volunteer travel photography opportunities for 2027, particularly projects where my photography skills can make a meaningful contribution through documenting adventures, preserving important moments, or helping organizations tell their stories.
